And so we say "Goodbye" (Delayed...)

We were up extra early on this, our last day, to make the most of it. We had a breakfast date with Mickey Mouse and Friends at Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort. We remained packed for our one night at the Polynesian so Ryan and I got ourselves together and took the kids in their jammies so they didn't have to be up any earlier than necessary. We stored our luggage at the Polynesian's bell services and hopped on the Monorail, destination Contemporary Resort just a couple stops away. Both kids were awake and ready for clean diaper/clothes when we arrived so we stopped long enough to take care of that before checking in for our reservation. We made it just in time and were immediately ushered to the photo spot for a group picture. More on this later.

We've done this breakfast and also their dinner once each before and neither are impressive as far as food goes but we sure have enjoyed the character interaction here! This time was no different on either front. All the characters did such a great job of testing the water with Jace and backed off right away when he showed hesitation (mild fussing and reach for Mama), and directed all their attention toward Ally. She ate this up! She informed Goofy that she was a princess and he quickly bowed to her. Hilarious.

I was a little irritated when a cast member came by our table with a few copies of our photo at the beginning of our meal, available for purchase. This wouldn't be an issue but these pictures weren't an option to add to our Photo Pass even though we'd already purchased a CD of all images. You had to buy one of their print packages in order to get the digital images on your CD! This seems a little crazy to me. Plus, the picture they take isn't even with a character or anything, it's just in front of a giant Mickey-shaped plate and a Mickey statue. The image turned out really good too so I was disappointed we couldn't get this without paying Disney another $45ish. Oh well, there are more important things happening today!

After our breakfast we planned our last day for Magic Kingdom since we knew that's what the kids would enjoy the most. We made it just in time to catch the end of the Opening Ceremonies.

Ally specifically asked to do the Haunted Mansion again so we did that as well as her other requests, It's a Small World, Peter Pan's Flight, and Aladdin's Magic Carpets. We found Aladdin greeting guests there as well so we took a few minutes to say hi and get a couple pictures. A little irritation here, the Photo Pass photographer followed Aladdin from a ride on the carpets with guests to the meeting spot at the nearby gift shop and after taking pictures of the first guest in line, he left with no warning and didn't say if he was coming back! The helping cast member didn't know if he would return either. No Photo Pass photographer available for a character greeting? Unheard of in my experience. Quickly grabbed our camera to capture the moment and it turned out fine.

The kids passed out for a nap in the strollers while Ryan and I took one final stroll through the shops on Main Street to buy a few last souvenirs and Christmas presents for the kids. We said our goodbyes to the Magic Kingdom and knew Ally would be upset that she was asleep when we left. More on this later.

We got back to the Polynesian, retrieved our luggage to store our purchases for the flight home and get necessary pieces out we'd need while traveling. We had a couple packages shipped back to our house that were too big to put in our luggage (which arrived yesterday, yay!) and got boarding passes printed. We couldn't resist a couple more purchases at the Polynesian's shop and walked outside just in time to see our Magical Express bus pull up. We boarded and said another goodbye to the Polynesian and a final goodbye to WDW as we rode back through the main gate sign. So bittersweet. Ryan was ready to get home but I felt like our vacation was just getting started since we'd had such a rough start! I needed another 3-4 days! HA!

Nothing really worth reporting on the flights home so I'll spare you the boredom. Ally did end up getting to say goodbye to Cinderella Castle while on the plane though. Ryan remembered from our last trip that we fly right over Disney property when leaving Florida and since it was dark the castle was easily spotted lit up all purple. Ally was thrilled!

We made it home about 11pm with 2 sleeping kids who stayed asleep being transferred from the plane, to the car, and into the house to their beds.

We're already excited for a next trip! Who knows when but I'm pretty sure we're going to have to find a way to make the Polynesian our home for that visit to The World.
